Rep. Saira Draper is urging Georgians to speak out against any effort to redraw the state's congressional maps ahead of the midterm elections. Following a recent U.S. Supreme Court decision that severely weakened the Voting Rights Act, Georgia is now at greater risk of political map manipulation by Republican leaders.

A special legislative session to redraw maps would open the door to more partisan redistricting at a time when voters deserve stability, transparency, and fair representation.

It would also allow us to push back against likely efforts to redraw maps this December.

  • Make a plan to vote—and encourage your friends and family to do the same. I strongly recommend voting early in person if possible. Early voting offers flexibility (you may vote at any early voting site in your county), helps avoid long lines, provides time to resolve issues, and reduces the risk of encountering disruptions at your polling place.
